The School of English at The University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong University Press are proud to present: The Hong Kong University Poetry Prize. This inaugural award welcomes submissions worldwide. The winner receives HK$2,500 and publication of a first collection of poems with The Hong Kong University Press. The judge in 2010 is Louise Ho, author of Incense Tree.

Eligibility

A poet writing in English who has not previously published, or self-published, a full-length collection of poems is eligible to submit to The HKU Poetry Prize. This contest is open to poets worldwide.

Guidelines

Length of Manuscript: Manuscripts must be at least 48 pages in length.

Format of Manuscript: Manuscripts should be single-spaced and printed in Times New Roman or a similar plain font.

Deadline

Due to interest, the postmark deadline for entry to the ‘HKU Poetry Prize 2010’ has been extended to April 1, 2010.

Award and Announcement

The winner will receive HK$2,500, and the winning collection of poems will be published by the Hong Kong University Press. The winning manuscript will also be featured on this website, and selected poems from the winning manuscript will be featured in YUAN YANG: A Journal of Hong Kong and International Writing. Notification of award will be made by email, and announcement of the winning manuscript will be posted on this website on January 31, 2011.
