2010: Man Asian Literary Prize: Preliminary Announcement of Restructured Prize

1. 2010 Prize for a Published Novel

From this year the Man Asian Literary Prize will be for a novel written by a citizen of an Asian country and first published in English in 2010. Translations into English of works originally in another language are also eligible, provided they are first published in English in 2010.

2. Larger Prize

The Prize for the winning novelist will be US$30,000. In the case of a winning translation, an additional US$5,000 will be awarded to the translator.

3. Entry via Publisher

Entry forms (for publishers only) will be available later in the year, around May. Detailed rules for eligibility will be released soon. Each publisher may enter up to two eligible books with scheduled publication dates in 2010.

4. Projected timetable (subject to modification)

March-April 2010: Judges announced, along with new rules and conditions of eligibility.
May 2010: Entry forms available to publishers.

31 August 2010: Entry forms due, including five copies of books entered, in typescript, proofs or finished copies.

30 November 2010: Finished copies due.

December 2010: Longlist announced.

February 2011: Shortlist announced.

March 2011: Winner announced at an Award Dinner in Hong Kong.
